Footwear and apparel ERP: size-color matrix, assortment packs, model recipe and subcontracting
One shoe model in ten sizes and four colors is forty stock items. Korgün keeps that matrix on the model card; orders, production, cartons and stores all work from the same matrix.

Sizes and colors on one model card
No separate stock card is opened for each size. The model card carries the color and size axes; stock, price and barcode are kept per cell. Order and shipping screens show the same matrix, and a line cannot be saved without a color and size, so a sale is never recorded against an undefined variant.
- Stock, orders and reservations in a model × color × size matrix
- Barcode and label printing per cell
- Size runs (for example 36-41 women, 39-45 men, XS-XXL, 36-46) and season or collection codes
- A line is not saved until color and size are chosen; undefined variants are never written to stock
Assortment: cartons with a size distribution
In wholesale, shoes and garments do not ship one by one but in cartons or packs with a known size distribution. An assortment definition holds the quantity per size in one carton. When an order is entered by assortment, stock and shipping are distributed to sizes automatically, and the carton contents and pack barcode follow from it.
| Assortment | Size distribution | Pairs or pieces per pack |
|---|---|---|
| Example women's shoe assortment | 36:1 · 37:2 · 38:3 · 39:2 · 40:1 | 9 |
| Example men's shoe assortment | 40:1 · 41:2 · 42:2 · 43:2 · 44:1 | 8 |
| Example tops assortment | S:1 · M:2 · L:2 · XL:1 | 6 |
| Example trousers assortment | 36:1 · 38:2 · 40:2 · 42:1 | 6 |
Product-based versus model-based bill of materials
In Korgün the recipe is attached to the model, not to each individual product. The model is defined once and every color and size of that model uses the same recipe. Work orders are entered in the color-size matrix and can be opened with an assortment distribution; MRP, consumption and cost are calculated per variant. A material that changes with the color (for example colored leather) is defined per color inside the recipe.
| Product-based recipe | Model-based recipe (Korgün) | |
|---|---|---|
| Model with 40 variants | 40 separate recipes | 1 recipe |
| Material change | Edited in 40 recipes one by one | Once, on the model |
| Material that depends on color | Separate in each color's recipe | Defined per color in the recipe |
| Work order entry | A separate order per variant | One order with a color-size matrix |
Subcontracting (fason): material out, product back
Subcontracting means having a stage of production, or all of it, done by another workshop for a fee while supplying your own material. It is the fastest way to add capacity, and the place where material and cost disappear fastest if it is not tracked.
- Issue to subcontractorCut parts, uppers or material are sent to the subcontractor with a delivery note; the stock moves to the subcontractor location.
- Subcontractor stockMaterial in the subcontractor's hands is tracked separately and remains the company's stock.
- Receipt from subcontractorReturned goods are counted and compared with the material sent.
- ScrapThe difference between what was sent and what came back is recorded as scrap.
- Subcontract feeThe subcontractor's invoice is attached to the work order as the subcontract fee, so the product cost is complete.
